"An Exhibition of New Paintings by Colm Murphy" Thursday 16th April – Saturday 25th April 2026

St Peter’s is thrilled to announce an exhibition of new paintings by acclaimed Cork Artist Colm Murphy, marking the fourth solo exhibition in the venue. The exhibition is set to open on Thursday the 16th of April and will run until Saturday the 25th with daily viewing from 10:00 – 17:00.

Working in mixed media on watercolour paper, Murphy’s subjects include birds, landscapes and microcosms in nature — possess a distinctive and elegant character. His paintings offer a timely and deeply felt meditation on our natural and fragile legacy of the island of Ireland. Murphy’s style is described by art critic Hillary Pyle as “fine multi- paginal realism”, Murphy has been exhibiting professionally for over three decades, with his work held in collections worldwide.

“Murphy offers a kind of Beckettian stillness of the here and now, suggesting an inner composition, a sense of something going on inside which you can only guess… Sometimes we may see a connection and the search is pleasing in itself, but what we are looking at is not explained by relativity, but by the integral DNA of each subject. The one is part of, grown from the other, a helix of imagination.”
