The “Cur Le Chéile” tour organised by Galway band Swallow Sorrow aims to promote unity between female musicians in the Irish music scene This tour consists of talented female fronted bands from Galway, Cork and Dublin, such as Swallow Sorrow Other Mother, For Nina and Dogswim, who are strong representatives of the music scene right now. “Cur Le Chèile” meaning “unity” highlights the strength and creativity between female talent in the Irish scene.
Swallow Sorrow are a Dublin/Galway based band blending alternative and dreamgaze styles. Known for their evolving sound, Swallow Sorrow has drawn comparisons to Wolf Alice, Mannequin Pussy, and Newdad. With their unique and surprising performances reeling in the crowd with ease, they are constantly experimenting, giving every show an edge that keeps fans coming back for more. With a reputation that precedes them, Swallow Sorrow are a spectacle, already making waves in Ireland’s rich music scene.
Other Mother is a band of loud noises and quiet emotions. Inspired by artists such as bóa, Fiona Apple and Big Thief, the 5 piece Cork band bring the sounds of 90s alt-rock together with more mellow indie influences to speak in a voice unique to the bands personality. The band is composed of lead singer Willow Esteve, bassist Cathal O’Sullivan, keys player Bláthnaid Marsh, guitarist Fionn Cogan and drummer Conor O’Regan.
For Nina met in college in Dublin studying Jazz and ironically bonding over a love of heavier music, For Nina formed rather organically. Taking inspiration from a wide array of genres (metal, folk, rock) having come from different musical backgrounds, For Nina found a sweet spot in the middle. “Together, they form a dense, lush soundscape of guitar distortion that carries them through effortlessly and becomes the bedrock on which the vocals can soar”
