Hailing from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, DEISE BRASS is a ten-piece band dedicated to the
vibrant sounds of New Orleans Jazz, Dixieland, Swing and Jazz standards from the 1920s and
1930s.
The band was formed in 2015 by a group of like-minded musicians who were looking for an
outlet to make music together, enjoy each others company and share their love of great tunes.
Over the past eleven years, DEISE BRASS has grown into one of Irelandβs leading traditional
jazz ensembles, united by a passion for keeping the music and spirit of the 1920s alive for
modern audiences.
That same friendship and camaraderie remain at the heart of the band today and is a big part
of the enjoyment and energy DEISE BRASS brings to every performance.
Featuring trumpets, trombone, clarinet, euphonium, saxophone, piano, banjo, guitar, bass,
drums and the authentic sounds of the New Orleans washboard, the band delivers an
energetic and authentic jazz experience, combining lively melodies, driving rhythms and
exciting improvisation.
Recognised as one of only a handful of bands in Ireland keeping the traditional sounds of
Dixieland and New Orleans jazz alive today, DEISE BRASS has performed at numerous
festivals and events throughout the country, including the Doonbeg International Jazz
Festival, Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival and the Waterford Festival of Food. The band has also
successfully produced and performed at several Prohibition Balls and Peaky Blinders-themed
events, bringing the lively music of the 1920s to life alongside dedicated swing dance groups
and enthusiastic audiences.
DEISE BRASS is delighted to bring its exciting blend of traditional jazz and New Orleans
street-band spirit to The Pav (The Pavilion), Cork City Centre, as part of the 2026
International Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. Built in 1921, this iconic Cork venue provides the
perfect setting to experience music that, in many cases, is as old as the building itself.
