The Carlos Ligero & John Moriarty Quartet

Cork Opera House, Emmet Place, Cork

Sun 25th Oct, 9:00 pm

The Carlos Ligero & John Moriarty Quartet brings together four exceptional voices from the European and international jazz scenes for a dynamic, cross-cultural collaboration. Co-led by the lyrical, Parisian-honed alto saxophone of Cádiz native Carlos Ligero and the hard-swinging, masterful archtop guitar of Ireland’s John Moriarty, the quartet delivers a compelling set that seamlessly bridges fresh original compositions and reimagined jazz standards. Anchoring the frontline is a powerhouse rhythm section featuring the deep groove of Andalusian double bassist Alejandro Tamayo and the explosive, rhythmic creativity of Peruvian-born, Granada-based drummer Cote Calmet. Drawing on a rich tapestry of influences—spanning traditional swing, hard bop, and modern jazz—the quartet creates a live experience that honors the deep roots of the jazz tradition while pushing thrillingly forward.
