
Billy is a Singer/Songwriter based in Cork City, Ireland. He first performed in London in 1988 with the band Godot. After touring the South East of England, the band played gigs through out London including a year long residency at The Half Moon, Herne HIll. Godot went on to record a Four Track EP 'Law On My Side' with producer Benny King. King was well known in the music industry as assistant producer to Glyn Johns on a number of Rolling Stones albums such as Some Girls. In 1993 Billy moved to Dublin. He formed the band HOME with Cork singer, Taly Murphy. HOME played all the major venues in Dublin including Whelans, and The Baggot Inn. They also made many appearances on RTE television and Radio. After a residency in the Beal Bocht, Billy moved to Cork where he performed his songs under the band name THE HORSIES. THE HORSIES included Taly Murphy on Lead Vocals, as well as Rueben Lynch (Bass), and Steve Hampson (Guitar), and Dandan Fitzgerald on Drums. In !999 THE HORSIES released a single, 'Being There'. The single was recorded and produced by Dandan at his Soundsound studio. The song was well received, immediately selling out its first pressing. The Horsies received frequent airplay on RTE Radio 1 and 96Fm. 'Being There' was followed by a cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'True Colours'. The song was recorded for 96fm's Green Room programme. It became one of the radio station's most requested songs of the year. In 2004 Billy took over as Host of the open mic night in Charlie's, Cork. The night was originally hosted by Cork singer Sara Corkery . The night was renamed UNDER THE LAMP and continued for four years. The CD 'Under the Lamp' was recorded live. It included fifteen of the many artists who graced the open mic night over the years. For the last few years Billy has mainly performed with the Ian Hendrick Band as lead Guitarist. This year West Cork singer, Jessie Kennedy recorded a haunting version of Billy's song 'Skintight' on her debut album 'Field of the Wicked.' 'Billy's song 'Angels on Patrick Street' is to be used in the Owen Dara film "Transmission" which is to be released 2011. 'Another of Billy's songs 'Party' can be heard in the 2010 radio documentary There Was Love 2011 sees the release of Billy's first solo album. The CD is produced and recorded by Cormac O'Connor at his Ringabella Studios and consists of ten or so original tracks.
